Education Minister Reacts to Nkwanta Student Deaths

The Ministry of Education is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives of two female day students through a shooting incident on Thursday 26th June, 2025 , and a male student also hit by a stray bullet on Friday, 27th June, 2025, at the Nkwanta Senior High School as a result of the resurgence of a tribal conflict in Nkwanta in the Oti Region. The Ministry commiserates with all students, their families, staff of Nkwanta SHS and everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence within the community. Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has commended the swift but necessary decision taken by the GES and the Acting Regional Director of Education, Oti Region to temporarily close down Nkwanta Senior High School and for arranging police escorts to ensure the safe passage of students to their homes. On 25th July 2025, the Agroecology and Circular Economy for Ecosystem Services (ACE4ES) Consortium, with support from the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), organized a high-level training workshop at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) in Asante Mampong. This workshop marked a strategic milestone in ACE4ES’s mission to identify public agricultural universities within and outside Ghana, assess their training needs, and develop tailored capacity-building programs focused on short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) and super pollutant mitigation research and development. Beware: GIS Warns Public Against Fake Recruitments

   The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has firmly debunked claims circulating on social media suggesting that the Service is currently recruiting. In an official public alert, GIS stated categorically that no such recruitment exercise is underway and warned Ghanaians to be wary of fraudulent announcements designed to deceive and defraud. According to the statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, M. Amoako-Atta, all official GIS recruitment announcements are published solely in the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times, not on social media platforms. The public is therefore strongly advised to disregard any such claims made online and await an official announcement through these authorized national dailies.
