Beware: GIS Warns Public Against Fake Recruitments
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has firmly debunked claims circulating on social media suggesting that the Service is currently recruiting. In an official public alert, GIS stated categorically that no such recruitment exercise is underway and warned Ghanaians to be wary of fraudulent announcements designed to deceive and defraud.
According to the statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, M. Amoako-Atta, all official GIS recruitment announcements are published solely in the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times, not on social media platforms. The public is therefore strongly advised to disregard any such claims made online and await an official announcement through these authorized national dailies.
GIS also drew attention to the proliferation of fake social media pages and impersonators who exploit official images and videos of the Service to mislead job seekers. These acts of impersonation, the Service emphasized, are criminal offenses under Ghanaian law, and perpetrators have been cautioned to stop immediately.
The Service urged Ghanaians, particularly prospective applicants, to be vigilant and resist any demands for money in exchange for employment. Such fraudulent offers should be reported immediately to the Ghana Police Service or the nearest GIS office.
“We value your interest in serving Ghana with honor. Be patient, stay alert, and do not fall for recruitment scams,” the statement concluded.
For further information or to report suspicious activity, the public may contact GIS at 0555027024 or via email at info@immigration.gov.gh.
