Police Reward Officers for Asiyaw Murder Arrests
Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers from the Western Central Regional Police Command for their diligence, professionalism, and commitment in a high-stakes operation that led to the arrest of key suspects linked to the recent Asiyaw murder case.
The promoted officers are No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia, now Inspector; No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare, and No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, both promoted to Sergeant; and No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu, who now holds the rank of Lance Corporal.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers for their swift and professional response. The IGP emphasized that the Ghana Police Service remains committed to recognizing and rewarding excellence and that these promotions are a testament to that commitment.
The commendable operation occurred on April 30, 2025, just a day after the brutal murder of five individuals at Asiyaw near Nsawam. Officers from the Western Central Regional Command intercepted a Grand Bird Bus at Bawdie Barrier, near Wassa Akropong, where they arrested three suspects—Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab—for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a submachine gun (SMG) and 21 rounds of ammunition in the possession of Hakeem Imoro. Upon interrogation, Imoro disclosed that the weapon was given to him by his employer, Samuel Atsu Forson alias Alanyo, who had already been arrested in connection with the Asiyaw murders.
Subsequent investigations confirmed that the arrested individuals were linked to the murders and were likely attempting to flee the area at the time of their capture.
The Ghana Police Service has lauded the officers for their vigilance and professional conduct, noting that such exemplary service not only upholds the law but strengthens public trust in the police force.
