Honest Sanitation Worker Honoured by Zoomlion Ghana

Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), has celebrated the exemplary honesty of Mr. Salifu Ibrahim, a Youth Employment Agency (YEA) beneficiary and sanitation worker in Tamale.

Mr. Ibrahim, during his routine duties, discovered GH₵20,000 in a waste bag. Instead of keeping the money, he informed his colleagues and took it home for safekeeping while waiting for the rightful owner to come forward. Days later, the owner identified themselves, and Mr. Ibrahim returned the full amount.

To honour his integrity, Zoomlion organized a special ceremony in Accra on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Mr. Ibrahim received an undisclosed cash reward in Ghana cedis and U.S. dollars, as well as a motorbike.

Dr. Ato Sarpong, a Board member of JGC, lauded Mr. Ibrahim's selfless act, describing it as rare and commendable. “His godliness and integrity have elevated the reputation of Zoomlion and Jospong globally,” Dr. Sarpong said, adding a prayer that the money Mr. Ibrahim returned would come back to him in multiple folds.

Haruna Suleiman, the Northern Regional Public Jobs Coordinator for Zoomlion, also praised Mr. Ibrahim's dedication and discipline, highlighting his eight years of complaint-free service.

In an emotional speech, Mr. Ibrahim expressed his gratitude to Zoomlion and his supervisor, stating, “I’ve never owned GH₵20,000, but I couldn’t tarnish my reputation by keeping someone else’s money. We need to reset Ghana together.”

As part of the recognition, Zoomlion flew Mr. Ibrahim to Accra for the first time and accommodated him in a luxurious hotel, underscoring the company’s commitment to promoting integrity and its core values of godliness and people-focus.
