Superior Prophet Michael Opoku Calls for Unity After Court Victory

The African Faith Tabernacle Church has emerged victorious in a protracted legal battle over its leadership. Superior Prophet Michael Opoku Nkansah, the successor of the late Superior Prophet David Nkansah II and head of the church worldwide, addressed a press conference to announce the landmark ruling by the Adenta High Court.

The conflict began nearly three years ago when Prophet Michael Opoku Nkansah was appointed as the church’s Superior Prophet following the passing of his predecessor. His appointment, in accordance with the church’s constitution, was challenged by a faction within the church who opposed his installation. This group filed a series of legal actions, including an application to restrain him from performing his duties and a contempt motion against him and eight other chief pastors.

In a decisive ruling on January 17, 2024, the Adenta High Court dismissed both the injunction and the contempt application. The case reached its climax on December 10, 2024, when the court struck out the writ challenging Prophet Michael Opoku Nkansah’s leadership. The court declared the writ a nullity, stating that the plaintiffs lacked the capacity to sue in the name of the African Faith Tabernacle Church.

Quoting the court's judgment, Prophet Nkansah read:

"From the foregoing, I find the writ issued in this action as a nullity and consequently incompetent. This court therefore lacks the jurisdiction to entertain this suit. It will serve no judicial purpose to go into the merits of the case. The writ and all other processes consequent upon same are incompetent and are accordingly hereby struck out."

Expressing gratitude, Prophet Michael Opoku Nkansah thanked members, elders, pastors, and their legal counsel, Professor Kwame Gyan, for their unwavering support through prayers and financial contributions.

In a gesture of reconciliation, he extended an olive branch to those who opposed his leadership, urging all members to unite under one purpose.

"I will not sack anyone, even those who opposed me. Let us come together as one family to serve God with a united heart," he stated.

The Superior Prophet reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity within the African Faith Tabernacle Church and continuing its mission of spreading faith and service.
