Opoku-Agyemang Urges Guan Voters to Reject NPP


The vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on voters in the Guan Constituency to reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 7 elections for denying them representation in Parliament over the past four years.


Addressing a rally in Likpe to begin her two-day tour of the Oti Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed dismay at the ruling party's actions, which she said caused significant pain and injustice to the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL). She urged the electorate to respond decisively at the polls, describing the NPP’s actions as a betrayal of their constitutional rights.


“They turned their back against you and denied you representation for four years, despite all the legal challenges mounted by the NDC,” she said. “But now the time has come, and you have the opportunity to make amends.”


Prof. Opoku-Agyemang criticized the government for failing to provide basic developmental projects such as roads, schools, water, and healthcare facilities in the constituency. She accused the NPP of resorting to distributing money, food, and other inducements to gain voter support, urging the people to accept these offers but vote massively for the NDC.


She also took issue with the presence of NPP flags and posters in the Guan Constituency, saying it was hypocritical for the party to campaign in a constituency they deprived of parliamentary representation.











Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called on voters to rally behind NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidates to ensure development and fair representation in the next NDC government.


Her comments mark a strong push by the NDC to regain the confidence of voters in the Guan Constituency, a key area affected by the contentious SALL parliamentary representation issue.
