Prof. Opoku-Agyemang Urges Ashanti Region to Vote for Change and Development
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has appealed to voters in the Ashanti Region to consider a new direction in the upcoming December 7 general elections. During her campaign visit to the Nhyiaeso Constituency on Monday, she addressed local professionals, emphasizing the need for change and development that aligns with the region's needs.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that despite the Ashanti Region’s history of strong support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), it has not seen the level of development it deserves. She argued that although the NDC has received fewer votes from the region, it has nonetheless delivered significant projects like the Kejetia Market and the Kumasi Airport.
"The NPP has often relied on your votes, but the developments have not matched your loyalty," she told the audience, urging them to consider the NDC as an option for genuine progress.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also addressed Ghana’s economic challenges, pointing to rising debt and financial constraints under the current administration. She asserted that the NDC, with John Dramani Mahama as president, would bring transformative initiatives like the "24-Hour Economy," "The Big Push," and the "National Apprenticeship Programme" to create jobs and economic stability.
She concluded with a call for widespread support in the region for Mahama, underscoring that the upcoming election represents an opportunity for a fresh start for Ghana.
