Prof. Opoku-Agyemang Promises Strong Support for Women Empowerment Under Next NDC Government

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated its commitment to women’s empowerment, pledging to introduce targeted policies to support women if elected into office. Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the vice presidential candidate of the NDC, assured traders at the Kejetia Market in the Ashanti Region that the next NDC government, led by Mr. John Dramani Mahama, will prioritize the welfare and empowerment of women through impactful programs.

Addressing the traders as part of her campaign tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined several planned initiatives. These include establishing a Women’s Development Bank, launching a Markets Enhancement Programme, and implementing a National Apprenticeship Programme aimed at equipping women and the youth with essential skills. Additionally, she promised to support a "24-Hour Economy" model that would allow for greater economic participation.

"It is time we change our voting pattern as women and stop saying we always vote in a particular way while we don't see any development. Those days are past, and we should vote for someone who is development-oriented, like John Dramani Mahama, to implement his good policies to help empower women," she urged.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further highlighted Mr. Mahama’s track record as a "nation-builder," referencing the modern Kejetia market as an example of his contributions. She called on the market women to vote in large numbers for the NDC on December 7.
