ACEG Calls on Ghanaians to Vote for Mahama, Criticizes NPP’s Economic Management
Idrisu criticized the current government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, arguing that the economy has sharply declined under their leadership. He noted that Dr. Bawumia, once promoted as the “economic messiah” of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), now avoids discussing the economy, shifting focus instead to digitalization. “Digitalization has long been part of our development journey, even before the NPP came to power,” he stated, adding that the NPP’s focus on technology should not distract citizens from the country’s economic challenges.
Highlighting the high cost of living, dwindling GDP growth, and strained fiscal policies, Idrisu argued that the NPP has mismanaged the nation’s resources, leading to widespread hardship. According to Idrisu, ACEG provided economic policy recommendations to the government in 2021, but they were ignored, worsening Ghana’s economic predicament.
ACEG, a registered organization under Ghana’s Company Act, aims to inform citizens on economic matters, organize discussions, and offer business training to help Ghanaians thrive in the local economy. The group’s membership, currently at over 136,000, is actively campaigning across constituencies, supporting the NDC’s efforts in areas where local candidates face challenges.
Idrisu urged all citizens to vote massively for Mahama, describing the 2024 elections as a battle to “save Ghana,” benefiting not only the NDC but also workers, farmers, youth, and traditional leaders. He emphasized the need for vigilant monitoring of the voting process, calling on citizens to stay at polling centers until votes are counted and verified.
As the launch concluded, Idrisu called on Ghanaians to put the country first, expressing confidence in Mahama’s compassionate leadership to steer the nation toward economic recovery.
