NAIMOS GRABS TWO CHINESE ILLEGAL MINERS POLLUTING SUBRI RIVER AT BEKWAI SUBRISU
On Monday 8 December 2025 at about 1030hrs, troops of the National Anti Illegal Mining Operations (NAIMOS)Taskforce conducted raids on illegal mining sites at SUBRISU during which the troops arrested two (2) Chinese nationals who were caught actively mining using two (2) excavators and other mining equipment along the SUBRI River at Bekwai Subrisu in the Western Region.
The activities of the 2 Chinese Galamseyers and others had severely polluted the River Subri and other water bodies within the general area, with several portions of the lands also badly degraded.
During the NAIMOS raids, several metallic gold trapping platforms used by the illegal miners were pulled down while three (3) heavy duty water pumping machines were destroyed to incapacitate the nefarious activities of the illegal miners.
The two Chinese Galamseyers have since been conveyed to Accra and safely handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for necessary action.
Meanwhile, NAIMOS continues its surprised nationwide crackdown on illegal mining activities to restore sanity in the Country’s mining sector.
