GITFiC 2025 Targets Debt, Trade, and Integration

The Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will chair the 9th Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC 2025), scheduled for November 27–29, 2025, in Accra.
The annual conference, organized by the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) in partnership with the National Technical Working Committee of the GITFiC Agenda 2031, will bring together leading figures from across Africa and beyond to deliberate on debt sustainability, trade, and regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
This year’s edition, themed “Spurring GITFiC’s Global Debt Initiative; Consolidating Member States’ Gains for Synergistic Impact,” will also host the second meeting of the Global Debt Initiative and the inaugural GITFiC–AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress—a new platform aimed at engaging young Africans in shaping the continent’s economic and trade future.
Speaker Bagbin’s leadership as chair highlights Ghana’s strong commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable growth through Africa-led policy solutions to global economic challenges. His involvement further underscores the role of parliaments in promoting transparency, accountability, and evidence-based policymaking in economic governance.
The GITFiC–AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress will mark a milestone in empowering the next generation to contribute meaningfully to AfCFTA implementation. It aligns with GITFiC’s broader vision of establishing AfCFTA Students Clubs and integrating trade and finance curricula across Africa’s higher institutions.

Since its establishment, GITFiC has evolved into a premier platform for continental dialogue on trade and finance, fostering collaboration between governments, financial institutions, academia, and the private sector. The 2025 conference is expected to produce actionable policy recommendations and strengthen partnerships toward building a resilient and inclusive African economy.
