ACE4ES Leads Drive for Sustainable Agriculture in Ghana
A powerful momentum for transforming Ghana’s agricultural future was set in motion on 27th July 2025, as the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) hosted a dynamic Researcher-Practitioner Workshop led by the Agroecology and Circular Economy for Ecosystem Services (ACE4ES) Consortium.
With the support from the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), the event brought together leading academics, farmer-based organizations, policy institutions, and private sector innovators to explore cutting-edge solutions for reducing superpollutants and building resilient food systems.
Under the leadership of Dr. Kwaku Onwona-Hwesofour Asante, and with facilitation from Eng. Kwame Simpe, Prof. Daniel Akoto Sarfo, and Dr. Anthony Baidoo, participants engaged in lively sessions on agroecology, circular economy, and validated low-emission technologies.
The workshop emphasized not just environmental benefits but also the clear economic advantages of adopting climate-smart practices. Real-life case studies, financial analyses, and community success stories illustrated how technologies to reduce methane, black carbon, and nitrous oxide emissions can boost farm profitability and secure long-term sustainability.
A major highlight was the enthusiastic commitment by UENR faculty and students to partner with ACE4ES at the upcoming Multicultural Technology Park (MTP). This collaboration will empower young researchers and future agricultural leaders to co-create practical solutions and support community-level implementation across Ghana and beyond.
In a strong show of inclusivity, the event engaged a diverse participant base, with a clear focus on gender equity and cross-sector representation. Farmer-based organizations and young lead farmers voiced their readiness to champion these innovations, signaling a ripple effect across rural communities.
The workshop stands as a landmark step toward rethinking agricultural systems, linking profitability with sustainability, and driving a new era of climate action and food security in Africa.
With CCAC’s unwavering support, ACE4ES and UENR are setting the stage for a transformative, nature-based agricultural revolution that empowers both people and the planet.
