Royal Jamong Family Refutes Alhaji Abuba’s Land Claims
The Royal Jamong Family of Bunkpurugu has strongly denied claims made by Alhaji Abuba Nasinmong that he has been officially gazetted and now owns 99.9% of Bunkpurugu lands, describing the assertions as false, misleading, and legally unfounded.
In a press statement issued on June 4, 2025, and signed by Reagent Mark Musah, the family accused Alhaji Abuba and his supporters of deliberately spreading misinformation to create confusion and mislead the public.
“It is clear they have not taken the time to study the position of the law on land matters in the Bimoba Traditional Area,” the statement read.
According to the Jamong Family, while Alhaji Abuba claims to have been gazetted on May 7, 2025, he was still in court as recently as June 3, 2025, over the same matter, casting doubt on the credibility of his gazette claims.
The statement also criticized Joy News correspondent Eliasu Tanko for circulating what it called "misleading reports," suggesting that Alhaji Abuba's legal issues had been resolved. The family argued that if he were truly gazetted and uncontested, he would not still be appearing in court.
This, the family said, is a continuation of Alhaji Abuba’s alleged pattern of misrepresentation. They referenced a similar incident in 2019, when Alhaji Abuba reportedly lost a case at the Northern Regional House of Chiefs in Tamale but returned to Bunkpurugu falsely declaring victory.
In light of the ongoing controversy, the Royal Jamong Family has activated its legal team and consulted its lawyers, who, according to the statement, expressed deep concern over the misleading information being circulated. The family urged the general public, particularly the youth and their supporters, to remain calm, respect the rule of law, and allow the legal processes to run their full course.
