Interior Minister Tasks NACOC with Bold Leadership
The newly appointed Governing Board of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has been inaugurated with a call to action from the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, urging members to bring bold, ethical leadership to Ghana’s fight against illicit drug trafficking.
At the ceremony held on June 12, 2025, in the Ministry of the Interior’s Conference Room, the Minister emphasized the seriousness of the drug menace and the devastating impact it has on Ghanaian youth, families, and the national economy.
“Illicit drug trafficking is not just a crime—it is a national threat that recognizes no borders and no regard for human life,” the Minister stated. “Its consequences are vicious and far-reaching.”
He noted that the formation of the new Governing Board demonstrates the government’s commitment to professionalism, openness, and strong institutional governance in dealing with narcotics-related crimes.
Hon. Muntaka Mubarak charged the Board to provide strategic oversight and uphold the highest ethical standards in policymaking and decision-making. “You are stewards of integrity and custodians of public trust. The authority you wield must be matched by accountability,” he stressed.
To the Chairman of the Board, the Minister emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration and inspiring excellence. He also reminded members that while their work will be challenging, their commitment must remain grounded in the law and guided by a shared vision of protecting the country.
The Minister concluded by congratulating the Board members and affirming the government’s confidence in their abilities to steer NACOC toward a safer, drug-free Ghana.
