Interior Minister Charges NADMO Council to Deliver I
The newly appointed Governing Council of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has been sworn into office with a strong call from the Minister for the Interior to deliver effective and people-centered leadership in disaster management.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at a swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Minister charged the Council to ensure that NADMO remains responsive, innovative, and aligned with global best practices in the face of increasing natural and man-made disasters.
The Interior Minister commended the appointees for their proven leadership and commitment to public service, adding that their appointment reflects the President’s trust in their ability to strengthen Ghana’s disaster risk governance.
“NADMO plays a critical role in safeguarding lives and livelihoods before, during, and after disasters,” he stated. “Your task is not only to offer policy direction but also to ensure effective coordination with security services, local government structures, and international partners.”
The Minister urged the Council to anchor NADMO’s operations on community engagement, risk reduction, and recovery planning, emphasizing that disaster management must be people-centered. He encouraged the Council to uphold principles of transparency, professionalism, and strategic oversight.
He also assured them of the Ministry’s full support in carrying out their mandate. “Together, we must build a resilient Ghana—one that can anticipate, withstand, and recover from disasters,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for the Interior, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Directors of the Ministry, NADMO management, and members of the media.
