GIS Alerts Public to CGI Impersonation Scam

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a strong warning to the public regarding a fraudulent WhatsApp account impersonating the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu.

In a press release dated June 4, 2025, the GIS disclosed that the fake account, using the number +233242604119, has been circulating online, falsely portraying itself as the CGI by displaying a profile picture featuring Mr. Amadu with the President and Vice President.

The GIS categorically stated that the WhatsApp account is not owned or operated by the Comptroller-General and urged the public to avoid any interaction with it.

"The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, disassociates himself from this account. Any member of the public who engages the account does so at their own risk," the statement emphasized.

The warning was signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, who encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity and to rely only on official communication channels of the GIS.

This disclaimer is part of ongoing efforts to protect the public from scams and uphold the integrity of the Ghana Immigration Service and its leadership.
