COFAAA to Host Africa Cocoa Summit & Awards 2025 in Accra
Held under the powerful theme “One Voice, One Future – For a Thriving Africa,” the summit aims to unite cocoa farmers, policymakers, civil society actors, and global stakeholders to collectively shape a new future for Africa’s cocoa industry.
Africa produces over 70% of the world’s cocoa, with top-producing countries like Ghana, CĂ´te d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Uganda anchoring the industry. Despite this dominance, millions of African cocoa farmers continue to struggle with poverty, low yields, and lack of bargaining power in global cocoa pricing.
COFAAA, a continental platform committed to breaking the cycle of generational poverty among cocoa farmers, views this summit as a critical turning point.
“We are not just a voice membership organization. COFAAA is a movement,” declared Comrade Adeola Adegoke, Global President of COFAAA. “It’s time to reclaim our leadership, redefine the rules, and ensure African cocoa farmers are no longer spectators in a game they dominate.”
Key Goals of the Summit:
- Assert Africa’s leadership in the global cocoa economy
- Advocate for fair trade and farmer-centred pricing mechanisms
- Strengthen intra-African cooperation and policy influence
- Promote traceable and deforestation-free cocoa practices
- Strategically counter declining global investment in African cocoa
The event will also tackle pressing challenges such as the rise of synthetic cocoa research and reduced global funding for African cocoa producers. With current global cocoa prices surging, COFAAA sees this as a strategic moment for reform and transformation.
Event Highlights:
- Keynote speeches by African and global agricultural leaders
- Strategic panel discussions on cocoa market reform and sustainability
- The COFAAA Cocoa Awards, celebrating excellence and innovation
- Launch of collaborative frameworks for climate-smart, traceable cocoa production
The two-day summit is expected to drive policy innovation, attract investment, and lay the foundation for a unified cocoa movement across the continent.
“Africa cannot be stagnant while global actors reshape the cocoa economy without us,” Adegoke stressed. “This is more than a conference—it’s a call to action.”
