CGI Amadu Urges Vigilance at Sogakope Checkpoint
The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, has called on officers at the Sogakope Inland Checkpoint to remain vigilant and uphold professionalism in the face of increasing migrant inflows from the Sahel region.
During a working visit to the Immigration Sector Command, CGI Amadu emphasized the importance of curbing the entry of trafficked persons, particularly those brought into Ghana under the guise of beggars. He ordered officers to deny entry to such individuals immediately, citing national security concerns.
He also addressed a joint durbar of personnel from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), describing the inland checkpoint as a critical barrier against the infiltration of miscreants who exploit unapproved entry routes.
In his remarks, the Comptroller-General praised the officers for their role in national security and pledged additional support in the form of logistics, including motorcycles to bolster patrol operations within the Sogakope Sector.
The visit followed Mr. Amadu’s participation in the passing-out ceremony of NARCOC Basic Trainees at the Naval Recruit Training School in Nutekpor, where he called for unity and professionalism among security personnel.
His tour of the Sogakope command reflects a broader agenda to enhance operational efficiency and morale within the Ghana Immigration Service through strategic leadership and resource support.
