DRIP Secretariat Begins Nationwide Machine Inspection Ahead of 2025 Program
The National Secretariat of the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) has begun a nationwide inspection of its equipment as part of preparations for the smooth implementation of its 2025 work program.
During a recent visit to inspect DRIP machines in the Obuasi East and West Municipal Assemblies, the National Coordinator, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, expressed serious concerns about the poor infrastructure provided for the storage of vital road maintenance machinery.
He called on the municipal assemblies to urgently provide proper sheds to safeguard the equipment and ensure their longevity. Hon. Vanderpuye also bemoaned the general neglect and poor maintenance culture, warning that it could derail the program's objectives if not addressed.
He took the opportunity to admonish new machine operators and district coordinators to cultivate a stronger sense of responsibility and maintenance discipline.
In a stern tone, the National Coordinator queried district coordinating directors and road engineers on why several machines were parked for months without being properly washed after use. He ordered that all unclean equipment be immediately taken to washing bays for proper cleaning.
Hon. Vanderpuye was accompanied on the tour by the Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Samuel Aboagye, and the Ashanti Regional Liaison Officer of J.A. Plant Pool, Ing. Danquah.
The inspection exercise is expected to continue in other regions as DRIP intensifies its efforts to ensure optimal readiness for its 2025 operational rollout.
