Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Women From Nigeria

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the safe return of two Ghanaian women, Evelyn Serwaa Konadu and Anatasia Baidoo, who were kidnapped and trafficked to Nigeria. Their repatriation follows a successful joint operation involving the Ghana Police Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and the National Signals Bureau.

At a press briefing held at the CID Headquarters in Accra, Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, announced that the victims arrived at Kotoka International Airport earlier today. “Both women are in stable condition and will receive the necessary medical care,” she said, adding that they will also undergo standard police procedures to support ongoing investigations.

The CID Director-General reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to crime prevention, detection, and prosecution. “We remain steadfast in ensuring that Ghana continues to be a safe and secure place for all,” she emphasized.

DCOP Donkor also used the occasion to warn the public about a surge in online fraud and romance scams, urging citizens to remain vigilant and avoid sharing sensitive information with strangers online.

She extended gratitude on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to all personnel who played a role in the successful rescue, including the Nigeria Police Force and the National Signals Bureau.
