Muntaka Deports Foreigners Engaged in Fraudulent

Hon. Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the

Interior Minister has taken bold steps to deport foreign nationals involved in fraudulent activities and illegal business operations.

The Minister revealed that over 7,000 Chinese and 8,000 Indians sought residency in Ghana in 2024 alone. While Ghana welcomes legitimate investors, authorities are tightening regulations to ensure foreign nationals contribute meaningfully to the economy. Moving forward, those seeking residency must demonstrate an investment of at least $250,000 over five years and pay a fee, which will help fund national security initiatives.

Additionally, security agencies recently arrested and deported a group of Chinese nationals running a fraudulent operation that lured African workers to Ghana under false pretenses. The Ministry has implemented stricter measures, including sending immigration officers to accompany deportees to their home countries to prevent them from returning illegally.

The Minister stressed that these efforts are necessary to safeguard Ghana’s security and economic interests, urging the public to support the crackdown on illegal activities.
