Armaahman Chief Accuses Greater Accra Police Boss of Orchestrating Attack on His People Over Disputed Land
The Chief of Armaahman and Acting President of Ngleshie Alata, Nii Armaah Kwafio II, has called on the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to investigate alleged police-backed attacks on his people over a land dispute.
Speaking at a press conference, Nii Armaah Kwafio II accused the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Mr. Arhin, of using uniformed police officers and land guards to attack and brutalize residents of Armaahman. The land in dispute is located between Armaahman and Ashifla in the Ga South District of the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Chief, this is not the first time the Regional Commander has been linked to such incidents. He recalled a similar attack in the James Town Traditional Council area, where land guards, allegedly supported by police officers, stormed the palace, leading to the death of the Ngleshie Alata Chief Priest.
He revealed that after a court ruled in favor of his family earlier this year, land guards attacked his people. “One of my children went to the land and has not returned home,” he lamented.
Nii Armaah Kwafio II warned that if the IGP and other security agencies fail to act, the people of Armaahman may be forced to defend themselves. He also accused police officers of watching as land guards brutalized victims, only to later dump them at a nearby clinic instead of making arrests.
He urged the IGP to urgently investigate the matter and ensure justice before the situation escalates further. “If you are unhappy with a court ruling, the right step is to appeal, not to use police and land guards to attack those in whose favor the judgment was made,” he stated.
