Traditional Medicine Council Goes Digital for Practitioners

The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) has announced the implementation of a 24-hour economy strategy to modernize and streamline its operations, ensuring round-the-clock service delivery for traditional medicine practitioners.

As part of this initiative, the TMPC has introduced an online portal that allows practitioners to access services at any time, eliminating long-standing challenges such as manual form shortages, lost applications, and delays in license processing. This move aims to enhance efficiency, reduce human interface in cash transactions, and curb potential corrupt practices.

The Council, established under the Traditional Medicine Practice Act 2000 (Act 575), plays a crucial role in regulating and promoting Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medical (TCAM) practices in Ghana. With over 70% of Ghanaians relying on traditional medicine, this digital shift is expected to improve service delivery both locally and internationally.

Additionally, the TMPC hinted at future plans to create employment opportunities for young people nationwide through this digital transformation. Further updates on the job creation aspect of the initiative will be shared soon.
