Greater Accra Minister Pledges Support for KOKMA
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has embarked on her first official working visit to the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KOKMA), marking the beginning of her engagements with all 29 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.
During her address, the Minister emphasized key areas of focus for her tenure, including sanitation and waste management, public safety, and strengthening local governance. She reiterated her commitment to ensuring that within her first 50 days in office, major highways in the region would be well-lit, enhancing security and economic activity.
Hon. Ocloo commended KOKMA for its structured maintenance plan for street lighting and urged the assembly to sustain its efforts in improving sanitation. She also announced the introduction of a Regional Sanitation Day, with the maiden exercise scheduled for Friday, February 28, 2025. A monitoring team at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) will oversee and award the cleanest city initiative to encourage competition among assemblies.
Highlighting the municipality’s achievements, she expressed keen interest in KOKMA’s digital payment system, cashless revenue mobilization, and registration of public lands, which she believes could serve as a model for other assemblies.
The Minister reaffirmed her dedication to President John Mahama’s vision of resetting the nation, pledging to work closely with local authorities to enhance service delivery and improve the quality of life for residents. She called for collaboration and innovation to drive sustainable development across the region.
Her visit concluded with discussions on ongoing projects and strategies to address municipal challenges, reinforcing her commitment to a hands-on approach in governance.
