Chief Appeals for More Classrooms in Berekuso

Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II, the Chief of Berekuso and Twafohene of Akwapem, has appealed to the Minister of Education and the Ghana Education Service for a lasting solution to the overcrowding of students in classrooms at schools within his jurisdiction. The Chief called for the construction of more classrooms to ease the burden on educators and ensure a better learning environment for children.

In a gesture of gratitude, Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II thanked Giving World International for their generosity in providing building materials for the construction of a Teachers' Bungalow and Toilet/Bath facilities for schools in the area. He emphasized that the completion of the bungalow would encourage teachers to reside in the community, offering them the opportunity to provide extra classes and improve the overall quality of education in Berekuso.

The Chief shared that since the establishment of the Odeefoo Oteng Korankye Educational Fund, there has been a significant improvement in the educational standards of students, making them more competitive. He urged citizens of Berekuso to actively support ongoing projects and encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s education by providing as much support as possible.

Madam Priscilla Yeboah, President of Giving World International, expressed her organization's commitment to supporting education in the area. She highlighted that their office is located in Akuapem South, specifically in Berekuso, and they always strive to address the most pressing needs of the community. One of their primary focuses is improving educational standards, and they recognized that teachers’ living conditions play a key role in this. "If teachers don't have a better place to stay, they can't teach well," she stated.

As part of their contribution, Giving World International donated sand, cement, and blocks, as well as covering the cost of labor for the construction. Madam Yeboah also revealed that the organization plans to address the issue of teenage pregnancy in the community, which remains a significant challenge. They will soon initiate a program to raise awareness among the youth about the importance of focusing on education and planning for their future.
