1,000 Disinfectants Donated to Ghana Prison Service
EV Beauty Ghana has donated 1,000 disinfectants and other essential supplies to the Ghana Prison Service (GPS) to help inmates combat viruses and flu.
The donation, valued at approximately GHC 100,000, underscores the company’s commitment to public health and corporate social responsibility, particularly in supporting vulnerable populations.
During a brief ceremony at the Prisons Headquarters on February 11, 2025, Ms. Vera Ohemaa Ama, Curator of EV Beauty Ghana, explained the motivation behind the initiative. She described the donation as a token of appreciation to the Ghanaian government and its people for welcoming the company into the local market.
“This initiative aims to assist inmates in preventing skin diseases and maintaining a hygienic environment free from insects,” Ms. Ama stated.
She highlighted the unique properties of the disinfectant, which was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and tailored for the African market. The product is colorless, odorless, and alcohol-free, making it safe for children and individuals with sensitive skin.
“What makes this product unique is that it contains no alcohol, chemicals, color, or taste—it resembles pure water, making it safe for babies,” she emphasized.
Ms. Ama further noted that the disinfectant is compatible with human blood cells, effectively eliminating viruses while remaining harmless to the body—an important feature for prison environments where hygiene is critical.
She assured that this donation marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the Ghana Prison Service, as EV Beauty Ghana remains committed to future collaborations.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Ghana Prison Service, Deputy Director of Prisons, DDP Sophia Osei-Bonsu, lauded the donation and encouraged similar initiatives in other regions to improve inmate welfare.
EV Beauty Ghana Company Limited, located at East Legon Hills near Lakeside Estate, has plans to expand its operations to other parts of the country.
