ORAL Investigates State Capture Sites in Accra
The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, led by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, conducted a field assessment of several locations in Accra as part of efforts to investigate alleged state capture under the previous administration.
The team inspected key sites, including the Dubois Centre, Agric Mechanization lands, Labadi Beach Hotel’s beachfront, La Trade Fair, the demolished Bulgarian Embassy property, and Northern Development Authority (NDA) land in Cantonments.
At the Dubois Centre, tensions escalated between Ministry of Tourism staff and a company reportedly contracted by the former government to manage the facility. National Security was called in to restore order following reports of locked offices and death threats against ministry staff.
The team also visited the Agric Mechanization lands, where military personnel had been deployed to halt alleged unauthorized rezoning and land appropriation by politically exposed individuals. Similarly, at the NDA offices, ORAL observed attempts to encroach on NDA lands and alerted National Security to secure the area.
Hon. Ablakwa assured Bulgarian Embassy officials that their demolished property would be documented in a comprehensive report for action under a future Mahama administration. Construction on the site, reportedly linked to Dr. Yaw Adu Ampomah, remains suspended.
The ORAL team plans to extend its field assessments nationwide, gathering evidence to compile a thorough report for President Mahama. Hon. Ablakwa reaffirmed the team’s commitment to addressing public concerns and ensuring accountability.
