Opoku-Agyemang Urges Voters to Consider Hardships
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged all voters participating in Monday's special voting exercise to reflect on the ongoing economic difficulties in the country when casting their ballots.
Speaking to journalists after an open day with Muslim students in Cape Coast, Central Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called on security personnel, media practitioners, and other key agencies involved in the special voting to consider how the current economic challenges have affected everyday life in Ghana. She emphasized that these hardships should guide their decision-making as they vote.
The NDC vice-presidential candidate also highlighted the challenges faced by media professionals under the current administration, claiming that press freedom was more respected during the Mahama administration. She noted that many journalists have fled the country out of fear of attacks by government officials.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang appealed to journalists voting in the special election to consider the dangers they face and support the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, to bring about a change that would reset the country.
The NDC candidate also stressed the importance of fair and accurate media coverage of the upcoming elections, urging the Electoral Commission to ensure transparency and fairness in the election process. She called for the elections to be free from controversy and for all parties involved, including the media and security services, to uphold fairness in the conduct of the vote.
