Opoku-Agyemang Challenges Bawumia’s Cape Coast Promise
The vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the government to account for the airport that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia promised to build for the people of Cape Coast during the last election.
Addressing a large crowd of NDC supporters in Anofa, Cape Coast South Constituency, on Monday, as part of her campaign tour of the Central Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang criticized the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration for failing to deliver on their promises to the region. She lamented that after eight years in power, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has neglected the Central Region, with little to show in terms of developmental projects.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang pointed out that while the Mahama administration completed the ultra-modern Kotokoraba Market in less than four years, the current government has failed to finish a smaller market project in Anafo over the same period.
She urged voters in the Central Region to rally behind NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections, promising that his leadership would bring job creation, financial empowerment for women, improved education, and overall development to the region.
In her address, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also discouraged the practice of voting "skirt and blouse" in the Central Region, explaining that a working majority in Parliament would be crucial for a Mahama administration to fulfill its campaign promises effectively.
