Celebrate Victory Responsibly – NDC Urges Supporters

The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, has called on party supporters to celebrate the party’s electoral victory responsibly.

Addressing the media at the NDC National Headquarters, Mr. Gyamfi urged party faithful to refrain from looting and vandalizing state property, describing such acts as alien to the values of the NDC.

In a statement signed by the NDC General Secretary, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party attributed some of the reported incidents to frustrations over alleged hoarding of state-procured food items and fertilizers by NPP parliamentary candidates, purportedly used as voter-inducement tools during the elections.

The statement also acknowledged that some of the incidents were due to overexuberant supporters celebrating the party’s resounding electoral success.

While empathizing with the legitimate frustrations of Ghanaians under the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration, the NDC appealed to its supporters and all citizens to exercise restraint and celebrate responsibly. The party reaffirmed its commitment to probity, accountability, and the rule of law as it prepares to assume office on January 7, 2025.

“Vandalism of state property, mob justice, and any form of lawless retribution undermine the peace and stability of our nation. Such acts are unacceptable and constitute serious offenses under Ghanaian law,” Mr. Gyamfi stated.

The NDC urged its rank and file across all 16 regions to remain calm, exercise patience, and trust the incoming administration to address grievances through lawful means. Mr. Gyamfi concluded with a rallying call:

“Our hard-fought victory is here. Let’s celebrate responsibly as we prepare to usher in an era of accountability and governance guided by the rule of law.”
