89 Arrested for Post-Election Violence: Ghana Police Assures Public
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security nationwide following the conclusion of the elections.
At a post-election press conference, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Head of the Public Affairs Directorate, disclosed that 89 individuals have been arrested for their involvement in violent activities, including looting and destruction of property in various parts of the country.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi outlined the measures the Police Service has implemented to prevent further security breaches. These include sustained visibility patrols, intelligence-led operations to apprehend perpetrators of electoral violence, and enhanced security at government institutions and agencies.
Additionally, the Police Service is reviewing video footage from affected areas to identify and prosecute those responsible for the violence.
“We urge all Ghanaians to remain calm as we continue to prioritize your safety and security,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi assured.
The Ghana Police Service remains committed to ensuring the peace and stability of the nation as it transitions into the post-election phase.
