Mahama Pledges Development for Neglected Communities

Former President John Dramani Mahama has voiced strong support for chiefs and community leaders in the Central Region, condemning what he describes as the government’s deliberate neglect of crucial development projects in several constituencies. Mahama, who has been touring 14 constituencies in the Central Region, highlighted the frustrations of the chiefs in Ekumfi, Brakwa, and Ajumako Besease, who expressed deep disappointment at the current administration’s disregard for the region’s infrastructure, healthcare, and educational needs.

In his statement, Mahama lamented the impact of what he termed "partisan neglect," referencing the President's own admission that communities perceived as strongholds for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have seen limited progress. He argued that the government’s seeming punishment of these communities for their political choices is not only undemocratic but unjust, stating, “Every citizen, regardless of their political allegiance, deserves to have their voices heard and their needs addressed."

Mahama, who has pledged a more inclusive approach if re-elected, assured constituents that the NDC administration under his leadership would prioritize equal development across all communities. "As I have done before when I was president, and will lead this country to achieve again, development shall be a right for all, not a privilege for a few," he affirmed.

This pledge was met with enthusiasm from local leaders and residents, who have long awaited progress on key infrastructure projects. Mahama emphasized his commitment to restoring justice and accountability in governance, promising that his administration would address the needs of all Ghanaians without discrimination.
