Mahama Engages Oti Region, Promotes Youth Jobs and Women’s Empowerment

Former President John Mahama kicked off a two-day tour of the Oti Region today, starting his campaign engagements in Kwamekrom within the Biakoye constituency. His visit is part of the ongoing #Mahama4Change2024 campaign, aimed at addressing key challenges and rallying support for his vision of progress and unity in Ghana.

Mahama’s Oti tour follows his participation in Sunday’s national campaign for peace led by various religious groups, reinforcing his commitment to fostering national unity and stability.

Throughout his campaign stops, Mahama is highlighting his solutions to address some of Ghana’s most pressing issues. With a focus on job creation, he proposes policies aimed at tackling unemployment, including the launch of a 24-hour economy, a $10 billion BIG PUSH infrastructure program, and a one million coders initiative. Mahama emphasizes that jobs not only provide income but also instill dignity and a sense of purpose, making employment generation a key priority in his vision.

A major component of his agenda also centers on supporting women entrepreneurs. Together with his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Mahama intends to establish a Women’s Development Bank to enhance access to capital for women-owned businesses, fostering growth and economic empowerment.

Additionally, Mahama is advocating for a National Apprentice Program to equip youth with practical skills through paid apprenticeships. This initiative is designed to help young people gain hands-on experience in skilled trades, meeting market demands and preparing a skilled workforce for the future.

Mahama’s tour of the Oti Region will include meetings with community leaders, visits to local businesses, and public addresses, allowing him to engage directly with constituents and share his vision for building "the Ghana we want together."
