Ghanaians Suffer Due to ‘Destructive’ Economic Policies – Dr. Ofosu Ampofo
The former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has criticized the government’s economic policies, attributing them to the hardships faced by Ghanaians. Speaking in Battor, North Tongu Constituency, during a campaign event for the NDC’s vice presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo described these policies as “weapons of mass destruction” that have left a lasting negative impact on the country’s economy and people.
He referenced a public statement made by Mr. Michael Agyekum Addo, the late CEO of KAMA Group, who expressed severe economic hardship due to current government policies. “Dr. Bawumia’s policies are like weapons of mass destruction,” Dr. Ofosu Ampofo remarked, accusing the Vice President of policies that have allegedly dismantled financial institutions and led to widespread job losses.
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo also criticized the government’s focus on digitalization, claiming it relies on infrastructure laid by the previous Mahama administration. He suggested that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who chairs the Economic Management Team, had shifted focus from economic issues to digitalization as a way to divert attention from economic challenges.
As the 2024 election approaches, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo underscored the importance of trustworthy leadership, calling Mr. John Dramani Mahama the candidate who can restore hope to Ghanaians. He urged North Tongu residents to support Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as their parliamentary representative and vote for Mr. Mahama to bring transformative leadership to the nation.
