Farewell to a Trailblazer: World Vision Ghana Bids Goodbye to First Female Director

 

In a heartfelt farewell, World Vision Ghana celebrated the impactful leadership of Laura Cristina Del Valle, its first female National Director, who served from June 2023 to November 2024. Laura leaves behind a legacy of compassion, transformation, and commitment to the communities she served, especially focusing on children and women's empowerment.


During her tenure, Laura played a pivotal role in expanding the organization’s influence and forging key partnerships, including collaborations with EIB Network, Goldfields Foundation, and Vivo Energy. Her leadership led World Vision Ghana to sponsor the 13th All-African Games in Accra, showcasing the organization’s dedication to broadening its reach.


Her tenure was marked by numerous recognitions, including the CIMG Non-for-Profit Organization of the Year 2023 and other CSR awards, highlighting World Vision Ghana’s credibility under her leadership. Beyond organizational achievements, Laura's commitment to her team was evident in her focus on staff well-being, creating a supportive environment that empowered her colleagues to thrive.


With nearly 30 years of experience in humanitarian work, Laura brought her expertise from roles in the European Union, Plan International, and various positions within World Vision across Latin America. Her academic achievements include a bachelor’s degree in sociology, a Master’s in art, and a doctoral degree in leadership, along with specialized training in NGO management and business coaching.


An unwavering advocate for children’s rights, Laura envisioned a world where children could grow up free from fear and violence, actively participating in shaping their futures. She fostered programs that prioritized their voices and promoted their well-being, leaving a lasting impact that resonates across Ghana and beyond.


Laura’s departure paves the way for Jean-Claude Mukadi, Senior Director of Operations for World Vision West Africa Region, to take over as interim National Director. In bidding her farewell, World Vision Ghana expressed deep gratitude for her transformative leadership, which continues to inspire the organization’s mission to create lasting change.
