Bawumia Neglects North East Roads—NDC m
The immediate past National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has challenged the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government’s assertion that it has constructed over 12,000 kilometers of roads across Ghana.
Speaking to supporters in Bunkprugu during a campaign tour with NDC vice presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo expressed disappointment over the state of roads in the North East Region, which he described as neglected despite being the home region of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“I came here purposely to observe what Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana for eight years, has done for the people of the North East Region. The NPP claims they have constructed 12,000 kilometers of roads, and I wanted to see how much of that is in the North East Region. But I have seen that the Vice President has abandoned his people,” he stated.
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo compared the region to President Akufo-Addo’s home region, noting that while the Eastern Region enjoys motorable roads, the North East Region’s road infrastructure remains deplorable. He urged residents to vote for NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December 7 elections to ensure better development for their communities.
