Sunyani West Queen Mothers Laud Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s Advocacy for Women, Call for Development
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, engaged in a significant interaction with queen mothers from across the Sunyani West Constituency in the Bono Region on Wednesday. The meeting, which took place at Odumase, formed part of her ongoing campaign tour of the region.
During her address, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured the queen mothers of her unwavering commitment to the advancement of women in Ghana. She emphasized that governments must do more to uplift women, a priority she vowed the next NDC government would actively pursue. One of the key areas she highlighted was education, particularly for girls, stating that the NDC would ensure more girls complete their studies through special attention to girls' education.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang pointed out that the NDC has numerous policies designed to empower women, and she urged the queen mothers to support Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the NDC presidential candidate, in the upcoming December elections. She expressed confidence that a future NDC administration would further the cause of women and girls across the country.
The queen mothers, in turn, praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her long-standing dedication to women's issues. They voiced their belief that she would become Ghana's first female Vice President after the December 7 elections.
Nana Yaa Adansi Puduo, the queen mother of Odumase No.1, spoke on behalf of the group and shared some of the pressing challenges facing their communities. These included poor road infrastructure, rising unemployment, and the need for new teacher and nursing training colleges in the constituency. The queen mothers expressed hope that the NDC government would address these concerns if elected into office.
