Nabla Calls Out Bawumia and Mahama: 'Actions Speak Louder Than Words on Women’s Issues

The flagbearer of the People’s National Party (PNP), Madam Janet Asana Nabla, has launched a scathing critique of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama, accusing them of perpetuating misogyny in Ghanaian politics.

In a statement, Madam Nabla expressed her astonishment at how both leaders have repeatedly sidelined women in political spaces, urging Ghanaian women to scrutinize their track record ahead of the December 7th elections. She highlighted that out of the 11 presidential aspirants recently disqualified by the Electoral Commission, only one was a woman. Yet, both Bawumia and Mahama reportedly took the time to console a disqualified male candidate, leaving the female aspirant without similar support.

Nabla warned that despite their rhetoric on women’s empowerment, both leaders have failed to meaningfully support female parliamentary candidates under their leadership. She urged Ghanaian women to make their choice in the upcoming elections based on actions, not words, emphasizing that Bawumia's and Mahama’s track records speak volumes about their commitment to gender equality.
