Coose Experience Over Experiment" – Prof. Opoku-Agyemang Urges Ghanaians Ahead of December Polls
The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has urged Ghanaians to prioritize experience over untested leadership in the upcoming December 7 general elections. Addressing a gathering of market women at the Koforidua Central Market on Wednesday as part of her campaign tour of the Eastern Region, she emphasized the importance of bringing back former President John Dramani Mahama to address the pressing challenges facing the country.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the need for seasoned leadership, describing the current government under President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as having led the country into economic and social turmoil. "Ghana is at a crossroads," she noted, "and it will take the experience and visionary leadership of John Dramani Mahama to lift us out of this mess and bring about the transformation we all seek."
Focusing on the NDC's proposed policies, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined key initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy and supporting market women. Central to these proposals is the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank, which she explained would provide financial assistance tailored to women in business. Additionally, she referenced the National Apprenticeship Programme, the Big Push infrastructure initiative, and the 24-Hour Economy policy, designed to create jobs for the youth and drive economic growth.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged the traders and market women to cast their votes for Mahama and the NDC, assuring them that his experience and the party’s innovative policies would foster a stronger and more inclusive economy.
In a broader appeal, she called on the Electoral Commission to conduct a free, fair, and transparent election, ensuring that all political parties are treated equally in the interest of peace and stability before, during, and after the polls.
