NYA Mourns Victims of El-Wak Recruitment Tragedy

 


The National Youth Authority (NYA) has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic stampede that occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise. The incident claimed the lives of six young people and left many others traumatized.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 13, the NYA said the Board, Management, and the entire youth of Ghana are “completely heartbroken” by the loss of these promising individuals who had assembled with hopes of serving their nation.

The Authority called on all young people across the country to unite in grief, compassion, and reflection during this difficult moment. It urged the youth to support one another and uphold the spirit of national solidarity as the country mourns.

“The tragic incident has left us devastated, and we encourage every Ghanaian youth to stand together in these challenging times,” the statement noted.

The NYA reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people nationwide and pledged to continue advocating for safer and more youth-centered systems to protect lives during national recruitment processes and similar public exercises.
